I offer up the drone gods from Japan: Boris. I say "Drone gods" but in truth Boris has spanned so many genres that it's hard to put a for sure name on them. I can't offer up their full discography, but I can offer up what I have. Amplifier Worship, Feedbacker, and Empty Bottle (Live at Chicago). This is a marvelous band that is worth checking out no matter what genre is your niche. Plus they have a guitarist who sure is purdy.

Lynyrd Skynyrd

I humbly offer 2 Greatest Hits compilations of the Southern Rock gods Lynyrd Skynyrd the 10 track Encore Edition and the All Time Greatest Hits. These two albums contain some of the greatest southern rock songs of all time including Sweet Home Alabama, What’s Your Name?. Gimme Back My Bullets, and Gimme Three Steps. To truly appreciate certain genres you have to appreciate the genres they in turn pay homage to. This is directed at you Sludge fans, southern rock is a big inspiration in the southern sludge bands, and Lynyrd Skynyrd is at the forefront, particularly with Weedeater.

Big Business

So Yeah, Big Business is a sludge band out of Washington. Initially a duo of bass and drums (they now have a guitarist), they've done a lot of work with The Melvins, though I don't have (a) Senile Animal, their split. I do, however, have Here Come the Water Works (thanks to Antonius Block), and I also have for you their album Head for the Shallow. Which I recently picked up off of Sludge Swamp. I've spun it once and re-upped it for this blog. Some of the lyrics on Here Come the Water Works are kinda batshit, a reminder of The Melvins, but the music is totally fucking great. These guys definitely know how to jam.

Black Snake Moan Soundtrack

Black Snake Moan, a movie that has been elevated to my favorite. It has 3 things I love: the South, the blues, and Samuel L. Motherfucking Jackson.

This is a really ace soundtrack. Including 3 tracks done by Samuel L. himself. It includes music from The Black Keys, Jessie Mae Hemphill, Bobby Rush, and R.L. Burnside. From Mr. Jackson comes a rendition of Bird Without A Feather, by R.L. Burnside, as well as the haunting Black Snake Moan, the titular song.

Them Crooked Vultures - Live at Lowlands, Netherlands

The mighty holy merge of Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age, Kyuss, Eagles of Death Metal) John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) and Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana). This is just a bootleg that you can find on there website, but I've tagged it properly and rared it up in a nice and easy to download package. This shit is sounding awesome, and the album is due out later this month (which trust me, you'll see it up here the day I find that shit).

I'm also very exited about this, so I'm whoring this every ware, enjoy!

This is Gainsbourg's most controversial album regarding as it does a story about rich man running over a nymphet and the love story which entails. Critically lauded, this is the best thing he released, and a totally indispensible part of music history.

Alice helped start Heavy Metal and Punk Rock. He's had his hand in pretty much every genre of rock and roll imaginable.

I humbly offer Welcome To My Nightmare. His first solo album, and by far one of his best. I also have Greatest Hits, Brutal Planet, and a couple of others. Keep watching.

The Beatles - Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club

Although revisionist journalism has seen the Beatles stance in musical history slightly reduced, one cannot deny the influence of Sgt. Pepper, even if it doesn't retain its hallowed place as the album that started music. Forget the hype though; this is just a half-decent album. Like all of the Beatles' records, there are some real stinkers, but there are some wonderful songs here as well. I, for one, believe that the Beatles never made a consistent record, but this is probably as close as they came. Worth a listen, if only for the educational factor.

ZZ Top

Here are two albums by classic Blues-rock band ZZ Top. Here is the 1992 Greatest Hits and One Foot In The Blues. The Greatest Hits is a great album, all of their greatest hits throughout the years, some of my favorite songs are on this album like Sharp Dressed Man, that shit was the jam when I was little. It's a very good album, a lot of the classics like Legs, La Grange, and I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide. One Foot In The Blues is another compilation album, they made it to make a cohesive album of all of their songs that qualify as blues songs. A lot of great songs like A Fool For Your Stockings and She Loves My Automobile.

Mule Variations is an album by Tom Waits, released 1999 on the ANTI- sub-label of Epitaph Records. It was Waits's first studio album since 1992's Bone Machine (the later The Black Rider was a collection of songs originally written for a play). It won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album and was nominated for Best Male Rock Performance for the track "Hold On". It also sold more than 500,000 copies world wide.
