Southern Isolation

Okay, here is Southern Isolation's one and only album. Southern Isolation is a southern rock/folk band from Louisiana. The duo comprises Phil Anselmo and (then) wife Stephanie Opal. The band is made up of guitar and vocals, provided by Phil and Stephanie, respectively. Stephanie shows that she has a truly beautiful voice, singing lead in all the songs. Philip provides backing vocals on a couple of the tracks, and lead in the last song Southern Man I Am.

This album is executed beautifully. It's truly a shame that they only released the self titled. Just like with crust punk band Arson Anthem we're shown that Philip has mastery over the guitar as he does over singing. I honestly think all of you will get into this really easily.

Isis - The Mosquito Control/ The Red Sea, Japanese Reissue (2002)

This is a cool little Reissue I stole from one of my favorite blogs, appropriately named Stonerobbi. This is a reissue of two early Isis EPs, Mosquito Control and The Red Sea. It also has two covers from the "sawblade" EP, Streetcleaner (Godflesh cover), and Hand of Doom (Black Sabbath cover). Early Isis is fucking brutal, raw ass sludge ware you can just start to hear there post rock influences. I hightly suggest this to any sludge or Isis fan.

R.L. Burnside- Mr. Wizard

In case you haven't noticed, I've been on this blues kick lately. Here is R.L. Burnside's album The Wizard. More classic blues sounding than An Ass Pocket of Whiskey, but still totally bad ass, contains almost the same styling, though not as raw. If someone could up the album Well, Well, Well, I would appreciate it.

Black Snake Moan Soundtrack

Black Snake Moan, a movie that has been elevated to my favorite. It has 3 things I love: the South, the blues, and Samuel L. Motherfucking Jackson.

This is a really ace soundtrack. Including 3 tracks done by Samuel L. himself. It includes music from The Black Keys, Jessie Mae Hemphill, Bobby Rush, and R.L. Burnside. From Mr. Jackson comes a rendition of Bird Without A Feather, by R.L. Burnside, as well as the haunting Black Snake Moan, the titular song.

The Black Keys, a two part Garage-blues band. It's some pretty sweet tunes, to be honest. I found out about these guys after hearing a song of theirs on the Black Snake Moan soundtrack. So I went out and got Rubber Factory.

This was the first example of Folk Metal that I ever heard, back when I was in highschool. Slow, chugging riffs, mixed with Violins, Cellos, Flutes, with both nice female vocals, and burly male vocals, mixed together to make a nice, epic viking themed album. I love walking around my community to this in the snow.

So, Zero is here to offer you some new Music. "But Zero, you only listen to Thrash and obscure bands I've never heard of!" Well guess what you pussy, I'm proving you right!

This is Sabbat, a fucking awesome Blackened Thrash (Or Black/Thrash, if it makes a difference) from Japan. They're one of my favorite Black Metal bands ever. They're like Venom, only better in every way, being funnier, better musicians, and just plain eviler. Seriously, the first time I heard the Opener "The Answer Is Hell" I was pretty sure I'd been condemned to Hell right then. It's that fucking evil. This Album is Karmagmassacer, my first and personally favorite album from them. It's more Thrashy than their previous Efforts like Stanasword, but it's so damn distinctive and cool you won't care. See, unlike a lot of "evil" bands, Sabbat write riffs that aren't totally ripped off from Slayer songs. That's right, you're getting original, bad ass riffing. And the soloing is right up there too, being evil without ever sounding like a Slayer Impersonation. Their vocalist is also funny, but incredibly perfect for the music too.

If that hasn't sold you, maybe this will: I assume you all know about Venom's famed "At War With Satan" or whatever the fuck that 20 minutes song was called. Well Sabbat One Upped them: They released a song called "The Dwelling" that clocked in at 59:49, 11 seconds short of an hour. And you know what? That song is better than every Venom song evar, and I fucking love Venom.

Seriously, if someone doesn't download this that isn't Morgan, I'm quitting the Guild. You will like it if you have testicles. Even some of you ladies will. So do it now before I take my beautiful body and leave you all.

The mighty holy merge of Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age, Kyuss, Eagles of Death Metal) John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) and Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana). This is just a bootleg that you can find on there website, but I've tagged it properly and rared it up in a nice and easy to download package. This shit is sounding awesome, and the album is due out later this month (which trust me, you'll see it up here the day I find that shit).

Even though the idea of Kid Rock on one song makes my bowls churn, don't let that turn you off this album. It brings you a good mix of old school blues, modern music, and some damn soul. This goes out to nigga hollow point, who wanted his self some more Burnside. Amen brotha.
